On 3 December, the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution “Return of Ukrainian Children” with 91 votes in favour — demanding the immediate, safe, and unconditional return of all Ukrainian children forcibly transferred or deported by Russia since 2014.

We wholeheartedly cherish and deeply appreciate this decision.

Our sincere gratitude goes to President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Government of South Africa, and all South Africans who supported our call to stand for Ukrainian children.

This resolution is a crucial step: it empowers the UN Secretary-General to assist in the return of these children, obliges Russia to provide the full list of names, and demands an end to forced transfers, deportations, family separation, forced citizenship changes, and indoctrination.
