27 January – Today is the United Nations International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. And Ukrainians of South Africa Українська Асоціація в ПАР has joined Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre for ceremony to honour the memory of the Holocaust victims.
A touching movie “Who will Write our History” – a documentary film about the secret archive of the Warsaw Ghetto. Once again reminded about the role of one human being in the history and how much it can matter. How much we depend on those who tell our history.
During the WWII Ukraine was in the epicenter. Total civilian losses during the war and German occupation in Ukraine are estimated at four million.
Between 1941 – 1944 more than a million of Ukrainian Jews were murdered as part of Generalplan Ost and the Final Solution extermination policies. Some of the towns lost over 60% of their population.
