Friends of Ukraine and UAZA invite you to join Charity Bazaar to support Ukraine!

 

Where: Hellenic Community of Pretoria
When: Sunday 08 May 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.
What: Ukrainian and international food, arts and crafts, music and dance, fantastic raffle prizes and auction!
Entrance feeR50. Children U10 – free access.
Fees includes: entry, participation in workshops and other activities, one Ukrainian flag/ coat for arms pin / ribbon, raffle.
 
Join us with your family! We have lots to offer.

The event is organized with the support of the Hellenic Community of Pretoria, the Embassy of Lithuania to the RSA, the Embassy of Bulgaria to the RSA and the Embassy of Georgia to the RSA and other countries-friends of Ukraine.

All proceeds from this event will go for humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The best of Ukrainian and International cuisine: varenyky (pierogi), borsch, Jewish bagels, plov, delicacies Bulgarian and Georgian dishes, and many more!

Bandura, also called kobza, a stringed instrument of the psaltery family considered the national musical instrument of Ukraine. It is used chiefly to accompany folk music. The modern bandura has an oval wooden body; a short, fretless neck attached to the soundboard in an off-center position and 56 to 68 chromatically tuned treble strings stretched over the soundboard.

Ukrainian folk dance performed by Orlovska Dance Studio as well as Kateryna Aloshyna, dancer and choreographer, involves everybody in social dancing!

A Ukrainian folk dance had originated as a male dance among the Zaporizhia Cossacks in the 16th century, but later danced by couples, male soloists, and mixed groups of dancers. The Hopak is often popularly referred to as the “National Dance of Ukraine”. See Hopak at SABC3 studio

Face painting for kids and adults by Cercle Francophone de Pretoria (Social and Voluntary Association). Learn about the Ukrainian and French alphabets as well.

Namysto wine
This label celebrates the beaded necklaces (namysto), one of the oldest forms of women’s jewellery in Ukraine.

Full program will be announced soon!

The event is kid-friendly and dogs are welcome (on a leash, of course).

Free parking available next to venue.
