On the 15 November Ukrainian Association had the honour of hosting a stall at the Belgium Festival in Newlands, amongst Ukrainian goods, we launched a “Sign a postcard for Ukrainian defenders” campaign. Visitors were offered to write a simple message of warmth, strength and courage to those defending their homeland, freedom and democracy. 

We were deeply moved by how many South Africans stopped by, shared their support, and wrote heartfelt messages. 

Children and adults alike were especially interested to write their names written in Ukrainian language on personalised bookmarks and on a postcards — an activity that brought smiles, curiosity, and wonderful conversations. 

The spirit of unity was incredible, and we are grateful to everyone who visited our stall, showed kindness, and stood with Ukraine.
